I use the word “both” a lot because I have dual or multi-faceted devotions and pursuits—and like it that way. I’m invested in both the theoretical and the practical, the academic and the creative, the dense and the isolated, the funny and the solemn, the necessary and the unnecessary.

I use constraints as positive prescriptions rather than negative restrictions for abstract, aesthetic, and functional problems.

I hold a BA in philosophy and architecture from Bennington College.
